Last week, Niranjana gave me a kiss on the cheek and declared I was "too fuzzy!" I replied, "Would you like me to shave my beard?" to which she enthusiastically replied, "Yes!"
I've had a beard off and on for the past 18 years - and mostly on for the last decade. Last time I shaved it off was four years or so, and that was part of my costume for a New Year's Eve party. So shaving it is a bit of a deal, I suppose.
Sunday morning, I asked Niranjana if I should still shave my beard. She said, "Sure!" So we all marched up to the bathroom, where Niranjana sat on the counter as I turned my beard into a goatee. I then gave my cheek a closer shave with a blade to make it as smooth as possible.
Niranjana kissed my cheek, ran her fingers across my now-bare face, shrugged her shoulders and went off to play with something more interesting.
Melissa thinks I look a bit younger, and my mom hates goatees. Both of these are good reasons to keep things the way they are, even if Niranjana is so-far unimpressed.

Beards
Leif has asked Hans a few times to shave his beard again. When we ask him if he likes the way daddy looks with or without the beard he usually says without.
But since Hans is partial to the beard - even more partial to not shaving daily, he is ignoring Leif's thoughts on the subject for now!
Shaving
I grabbed my single-blade razor this morning to shave my cheeks. I don't have any lotion around the house, so I just wet it and scraped. I'm torn: Melissa thinks the goatee makes me look younger, but this shaving stuff sucks, especially when I haven't had to do that much in the past decade.
