Several years ago on a vacation to Italy, Melissa and I got hooked on sparkling water, or agua con gas. When we got home, we drank San Pellegrino when we could find it in the stores. But that's pretty expensive, and Melissa ultimately switched us to generic "sparkling water" found in a blue can in most groceries. Most evenings, we will each drink a can of sparkling water. We continued this practice after Niranjana arrived.
She'd been home just a short time when, one evening, she grabbed my can of sparkling water and took a drink. I'm not sure what she expected, but the look on her face helped me realize she'd never had a carbonated beverage - and didn't care for this one. It was a look of shock, even deep disturbance. I'll admit I laughed out loud.
Surprisingly, she tried it again a few nights later and gave us a head wobble and a loud, "Mmmmmmmmmmmm!" She liked it!
Now, each evening, she will demand "sparkle water" and bogart either mine or Melissa's (usually Melissa's).
