Diversity Rocks

I had the opportunity to hit Costco and Fred Meyer by myself this weekend (on separate days, no less). I saw what felt like an above-average number of ethnically diverse families.

Ever since we decided to adopt from India, I've been hyper-alert to mixed-race families. Especially when Niranjana isn't with me, it feels like I need to wear a sign that says "I'm smiling at you because my family looks like yours and I think it's really cool."

We know we're unique in our community, but we're not alone — and we hope to set a positive example for others who are interested in adoption.

Maybe I need a button with Niranjana's photo that says "Diversity Rocks!"
