Last weekend, we traveled to the Oregon Coast for a long weekend. For a few months, Melissa and I have talked to Niranjana about going to the ocean, showing her photos in Sunset and watching a video that explores the Washington Coast.
We weren't certain exactly how Niranjana would react to this first sandy sojourn, but we found out rather quickly after arriving at Cannon Beach. In fact, I doubt Lewis & Clark reveled with more complete and unrestrained joy upon their journey's end near Cannon Beach than Niranjana when she set eyes on the Pacific Ocean for the first time in her little life.
(I am quite thrilled because it could well mean more visits to the coast.)
From the moment we got to the beach, Niranjana was a whirlwind, running along the beach and through the surf. She kept Melissa and Ammaji (my mom) hopping. The first day, she took a header into the surf, learning the hard way that she needed to pick up her feet as she ran along the water's edge. By Sunday morning, we could barely get her off the sand for the drive home.
O! The Joy! indeed.

Ok, we need to go there
And if I had just a fraction of the energy 4yo's have at this age. She almost made me tired just watching!
