Niranjana likes big trucks. A highlight of each week is watching the garbage truck pick up and dump our garbage can every Tuesday morning.
But it will take some time to top what happened just a few minutes ago.
Like everybody else in the Pacific Northwest, we've gotten socked in with plenty of snow. The city of Richland has done a good job of keeping the main roads cleared, but the side streets are not the priority. Typically, the city snowplows will make their way to our end of town eventually. I have an Outback, so I'm not too worried about getting around.
About 30 minutes ago, the big city snowplow started going through our subdivision. Niranjana was entranced, so we went outside to watch from the safety of the driveway. Niranjana waved to the city employee running the truck, and he waved back. As he scraped our cul-de-sac, Niranjana got more and more excited, waving and jumping up and down.
Melissa ran inside to get some cookies for the guy, and Niranjana went to give them to him. He was so happy to see someone admiring his work (vs. complaining, I'm sure), he let Niranajana sit in the cab of the big truck and even pull the cord that blows the REALLY LOUD HORN. Sorry if there were any neighbors still asleep at that point.
He then spent a few more minutes making sure our access to the street was clear. I'll find out later when I leave the house, but I'd bet we have the best-plowed cul-de-sac in the entire neighborhood.

Garbage truck
That's funny because Vija LOVES watching the garbage and recycle trucks that come on Friday. They always come just as we are waking up so she sits on my bed and watches out the window. Then she says "more, please."
Leif is jealous.
The garbage truck is still a highlight every Monday morning at our house - and even better if we are on time and get to follow him down the street. A snow plow would reign supreme.
