Old McDonald's 'farm'

On Presidents Day, I stayed home with Niranjana for the first part of the day because preschool was closed. Our first stop was a driving range in Kennewick so she could practice with the new Tiger Woods golf clubs she received for Christmas from Uncle Joe.

After a successful bucket of balls being hit in the general direction of "forward," it was nearly lunchtime, so Niranjana and I decided on a McDonald's restaurant nearby. I'm not a big fan of McD's - in fact, the food is generally terrible - but it has that play area for children.

Niranjana loved the playground, which our neighbor Vanessa refers to as a "Habitrail for kids." I did manage to get Niranjana to eat a couple of McNuggets, fries and a chocolate milk while going up, down and around the playground.

On Saturday, Uncle Joe was in town. Niranjana said she would like to go on an outing with the two of us that would include "the golf course" and "old McDonald's farm." So off we went for a bucket of balls and lunchtime at McDonald's. Again, she loved it, ate a couple of McNuggets and made some friends.

On Sunday, Niranjana again wanted to go to "old McDonald's farm" and managed to talk Melissa into taking her, who learned what a madhouse the place can be - but also how much fun it is for children.

Golf

Well, as long as I can spend time with N, I'll hit the driving range. Playing on an actual course is too much money and too much time away.

McD's

I think Cate's only done the play area at a McDonald's once - in Winnipeg. However, McD's is our bait for starting her on a road trip (camping/Seattle/whatever). We hit the drive-through so she can have some fries. Makes her very happy - and quiet for quite a while!

I remember you saying that you were going to retire your clubs now that you were a parent. I also remember doubting that Niranjana would let you, once she got bitten by the golf bug that seems to run through her family. I was right!
