What a show

Just as I remembered, the Disneyland fireworks show was nothing short of spectacular. In fact, it was even better than the Canada Day display we were amazed by in Victoria a few years ago.

The fireworks show doesn't happen every night, but we were fortunate to see it twice during our vacation this week. We watched Sunday night from the traditional Main Street USA location, and I was fondly reminded of being entranced as a youngster when Tinker Bell "flew" from the top of the Matterhorn to Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Now, the show features a voiceover by Julie Andrews and includes sound from many Disney attractions and movies, as well as Star Wars. In the finale of the show, fireworks go up from all around the park. It is really something.

On Monday, there was another show for MLK Day crowds. We decided to camp out near the King Arthur Carrousel, basically getting a 360-degree show because the pyrotechnics were fired from the castle in front of us and Toontown behind us.

It was all pretty stunning, and the video doesn't do it much justice, but it's fun to watch and listen to Niranjana's reactions. Notice in the first couple of seconds the Mickey Mouse-shaped fireworks that lead off the show. (By the way, the 17-minute show is edited down to just under four minutes here.)
